I didn’t read much about this book before I dove in (cover whore). With
that being said, at the beginning of it, I thought maybe it was a m/m because
Ren and Ash? Fighters? Not that it would stop me from reading it, I just like
to know it’s a sausage fest prior to take-off…but no Ren is short for Renee and
she is a girl. A girl that has never
gotten a break, has always been on the short end of the stick. Her mom was all she had, and cancer had taken
her piece-by-piece. On her mum’s last wish she sets off to find her
“dad” the man she wants nothing to do with, the father that walked out on his 5
year old daughter and wife when they needed him most.
What she finds is a wicked step-sister, a dark prince and a
wicked witch that won’t even show her face in the same room Ren is occupying. Instead of a castle it’s a dirty gym filled
with meat-heads that teach her the beauty of strength and how to use it to
fight. Ash is back after years of hiding
from his fucked up past, he enters and is taken by the new girl
immediately. He is hesitant to take her;
afraid his life will taint her. Underworlds
exist and Ash knows it is only a matter of time before the choices he has made
invade his fairy tale.
